Let it swing! - 2 - 3 day class
A smaller version can be accomplished as one day class.
As quilters we are used to cut fabric. Everything we cut can be put together again in a new form. In this class we work with a method where nothing is planned in detail, but where the result comes after an experimental process.
We start with a very simple form, cut it up and insert new colors and new shapes. Let coincidence rule when you cut, but take control when you sew new pieces in. You can let the lines and the form of the original shape continue to excist through the whole process, but you can also decide to change the form completely. Every time you have to sew pieces together, you can also choose to add or to take away something!
These 3 works are all made without much planning. The forms merge from the process and often its only the colours that are decided before I start working. I cut fabric, sew it together and cut agin - again and again till I am satisfied!
The little work to the left is a typical example of wht we are doing in this class. here it is abstract forms from curved lines. But it can also be very concrete as the work to the right, the threes in the wind..
