Teaching
I have travelled around the world teaching for many years, both short one-day classes and workshops lasting for a week. Click here to see CV for a list of some of the places I have teached.
Its a privilege to be able to teach in a subject that a love so much, textile art! My teaching will always be based on the strong wish to bring the joy of creativity to my students. To be creative is also to be a homo ludens - playful man! And in my teaching I want us to feel free and play with colour and forms.
At the same time I appriciate good workmanship and I do not see any conflict between being playful and experimental and master the skills at the same time. In my classes the students seldom make a spesific project from a pattern, but often develop their own very individual piece of work. I will encourage my students to experiment and develop their own styles.
For details and more information about fees and other conditions, see contract.
You will
find the workshops listed below. Workshops can be special designed and some can easely be combined to a 4 or 5 day class. All agreements about teaching will have to be from 2007.

Lectures
I do different kinds of lectures about my own work and about textile art and art quilts in Europe and Scandinavia. Today I only do digital presentations and can provide my own equipment. But there might be a problem bringing too much equipment on a plane. So if organizer can provide a projector, it would be great.
Fee for lecture is $ 300/Euro 250 with a workshop and $ 400/Euro 325 for lecture held alone.
For details and more information about fees and other conditions, see contract.

The Art of Looking! - 2 - 4 day class. New in 2006
Where do ideas come from? Everything around you are colour and forms that can be used as inspiration for creative work - its all about looking - beeing able to discover it all. Most of us have a digital camera and we use this in the hunt for ideas and inspiration. The pictures will be processed further on and we will make collages in textile or/and paper. These works can be pieces of art or just a sketch for something you might be working on in the future.

Masks and faces - 2 - 3 day class
Quilting is not only straight lines. Curves are not that difficult when you learn some few tricks. The lines and forms in your face will give you good training in sewing curves. We will make yes and mouths, put them together as a face or just as an abstract composition. We will work with composition and color and with simple techniques that can make our imagination and creativity flow. But we do not sketch or use a pattern, the work grow as we play and experiment.

Let it swing!
- 2 - 3 day class
A smaller version can be accomplished as one day class.
As quilters we are used to cut fabric. Everything we cut can be put together again in a new form. In this class we work with a method where nothing is planned in detail, but where the result comes after an experimental process.
We start with a very simple form, cut it up and insert new colors and new shapes. Let coincidence rule when you cut, but take control when you sew new pieces in. You can let the lines and the form of the original shape continue to excist through the whole process, but you can also decide to change the form completely.

Playing on the surface - 2 day class
Exciting techniques as phototransfer, printing and painting on textile. We work with textile collages and do not need a sewing machine in class. But you will need a sewing machine to complete it later.
In my own work I use very simple methods, same as you could have used in Kindergarten! But simple methods can give stunning results! The students will work on individual pieces and do their own designs.

Drawing Lines with fabric - 2 day class
With narrow fabric strips cut on the bias you can form and sew all kinds of figures and symbols. The old norwegian stone carvings with animals and symbols in elegant lines, are very suitable for this patchwork technique. The students will learn the basics through making a reindeer and then they will have to compose their own piece with the reindeer or some other figure.
